This auction is for a single sealed (i.e. box tapes are intact) kit as shown. This kit epitomizes the modern Airfix model kit. External detail is both extensive and restrained. The cockpit is extensively detailed, with a decent tub, a four-piece ejection seat, instrument panel and control stick, though instrument faces are decals, and there's a pilot figure who, while he retains the old Airfix "stock" pose, is nicely detailed and takes paint well. Intake and exhaust plumbing is present so you can't just look in one end of the fuselage and out the other, and though the rudder's attached, the ailerons are separate parts. Landing gear, doors and wells are all well-detailed (well, well-enough; the gear wells are bland) and the air brakes are separate bits. The canopy is two-piece so it can be displayed open and there's an optional nose plug ring to cover the intake when the aircraft's at rest on the ground. And there are two nicely-done Firestreak missiles on its cheeks. In short, it looks like a Lightning. Reviews say, though the instructions apparently don't, the kit can be built as an F.2A as well, though the decal markings only address F.6s. Alternative parts are provided to allow you to build the kit with the ventral tank mounting a gun, or one not mounting it, and optional wing-top external fuel tanks seem to be included as well. Decals, presumably in new condition, provide markings for the 74 Sqdn aircraft on the box top (and the top one in the 3rd picture), which carries no guns, and an 11 Sqdn aircraft (lower aircraft in 3rd picture) which carries guns. The box is in new condition beyond the usual light dishing of an Airfix kit box. This kit's lived its entire life in a smoke-free environment. Build it!
